ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recovered approximately 16 kanals of acquired land in Sector E-12 after clearing unauthorised occupation from the site, allowing development work to resume.
According to a CDA statement, the occupied land had been obstructing infrastructure development and the provision of planned facilities in the sector. The authority has now restored possession of the cleared area and resumed work at the affected location.
Structures Removed From Acquired Land
The site reportedly contained accommodation for private security guards, a holiday home, and 14 commercial shops.
CDA reviewed the relevant acquisition records and invited individuals with outstanding compensation claims related to the land to come forward. Following the process, the unauthorised structures were removed and possession of the land was restored to the authority.

Compensation Claims to Be Processed
CDA has clarified that legitimate and legally valid compensation claims will continue to be considered.
However, the authority has maintained that pending compensation claims do not provide a legal basis for retaining physical possession of land that has already been acquired for public purposes.
This distinction allows the authority to proceed with development while separately addressing any eligible compensation matters through the relevant legal and administrative process.
E-12 Development Faces Longstanding Delays
The land recovery is part of continuing efforts to address possession and infrastructure issues in Sector E-12.
The sector was launched in 1989, with thousands of plots allocated to applicants. However, development and possession have faced prolonged delays over the years, leaving many allottees waiting for their plots.
CDA has previously directed its engineering and land-related departments to prioritise development in E-12 and resolve outstanding possession and compensation matters.
Infrastructure work has also been reported in parts of the sector, particularly Sub-Sectors 2 and 3, as the authority works to address remaining development obstacles.

Impact on E-12 Allottees
The recovery of 16 kanals removes one specific obstruction from the development process, but it does not by itself establish a completion date for the entire sector.
For existing allottees, the development represents progress toward clearing land-related obstacles. However, the wider timeline for infrastructure completion and possession of individual plots remains dependent on further development and land-clearance work.
Prospective buyers should verify the current possession, development status, block, and plot details directly through CDA before making a purchase decision. The long history of delays in E-12 also makes it important to distinguish between a plot’s allotment status and its actual physical possession and development condition.
