CDA Still Has Not Given Out Bup Awards for Acquired Landmark for Seven Sectors from 13 Years

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) failed to announce the built-up (BuP) awards for seven residential sectors purchased in 2008 for a landmark.

Land grants for D-13, E-13, F-13, C-13, C-16, I-17, and H-16 were proclaimed in the past, although their legitimacy was extremely questionable. The CDA did not publish their BuP grants at the time, which led to the building of houses on property belonging to the civic organization. The CDA has not yet declared the BuP awards to get land ownership from the residents.

According to the sources, an official indicated that both land and BuP awards should have technically been publicized on the same day to prevent financial damage to the CDA. He found it peculiar that the CDA had bought the site while the BuP awards, which helped locals build dwellings on the land, were still pending. The federal cabinet instructed the CDA to announce the sector-specific BuP prizes; the land directorate was tasked with completing the assignment. This year, November 2 occurs on November 2.

Director of Land Afnan Alam stated that a survey of the sectors is nearing completion, and that they will shortly move on to other areas and announce the BuP prizes. When queried about the delay in implementation of the cabinet’s instruction, he also emphasized that the CDA will comply with it. He further stated that the CDA had earlier publicized the seven sectors and the C-14 and C-15 BuP awards, but failed to issue assignment letters to individuals so they could take possession of the land. Last month, the federal cabinet also ordered the formation of a commission to probe the failure of authorities to pay residents whose land had been acquired by the CDA.
