ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suspended a range officer from the Bhara Kahu zone over an alleged failure to report unauthorised construction in his assigned area.
The CDA Environment Wing has ordered an inquiry into the construction of a house and the officer’s alleged role in not reporting the activity. The suspension is part of the authority’s ongoing action against unauthorised construction and encroachments in Islamabad.
CDA officials have been directed to monitor public and state land and report violations. The authority is also taking action against encroachments, illegal commercial activities and construction that does not comply with approved land-use requirements.

The latest case also adds an internal accountability element to the enforcement campaign. While property owners and developers can face action for violations, CDA staff may also be investigated when they allegedly fail to perform their assigned duties.
The authority has recently taken disciplinary action against several officials in connection with enforcement-related matters. More cases may follow as monitoring of different areas continues.
Bhara Kahu has also been among the areas where CDA enforcement teams have taken action against alleged encroachments and unauthorised development. The latest suspension indicates that the authority is also examining how such violations are reported and monitored at the field level.

For property owners, the development highlights the importance of obtaining the required approvals before starting construction. Owners and buyers should verify land-use status, building permissions and other relevant documents before purchasing or developing property.
The inquiry will determine whether the suspended officer failed to perform his duties and whether any further action is required. The suspension itself does not establish wrongdoing until the relevant proceedings are completed.
