ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed 58 buildings along Islamabad Expressway as part of an enforcement campaign targeting illegal construction, unauthorised commercial activities, and violations of building regulations.
According to the authority, officials have identified 377 structures for further legal action, including 281 commercial buildings. Of these, 124 structures located between Sohan and Khanna Bridge have been marked for demolition.

The CDA reported that enforcement operations have generated recoveries of Rs250.59 million, while approximately Rs3 billion remains payable under the relevant rules and regulations.
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf reviewed progress on the Islamabad Expressway Service Road East project during a site visit on Thursday. He directed the concerned departments to complete the development work within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining construction quality and following the approved design.
During the visit, officials briefed the chairman on action against unauthorised buildings, commercial activities operating without the required permissions, and breaches of building control regulations along the expressway.

Ashraf instructed the relevant departments to apply building control laws and land-use regulations consistently. He also stressed the importance of complying with mandatory fire safety requirements and maintaining construction standards throughout the project.
The enforcement drive reflects the CDA’s efforts to regulate development along Islamabad Expressway and address violations of planning rules. Further action against identified structures will depend on the applicable legal and regulatory procedures, while work on the service road project is expected to continue according to the authority’s directions.
