ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration have taken control of five commercial plazas in Mouza Malpur along Murree Road as part of an ongoing operation to recover government land allegedly occupied without authorisation.
The operation was carried out on Friday evening with the participation of the CDA Enforcement Directorate and Islamabad Police. Officials said the broader campaign concerns approximately 108 kanals of state land, where a survey identified several structures, including fuel stations, commercial plazas, houses and warehouses.
The action follows directions from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to Islamabad’s chief commissioner and CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf to enforce anti-encroachment laws. Authorities are reviewing land ownership and revenue records to establish the legal status of properties located in the area.
According to officials, the review identified suspected discrepancies involving ownership documents and land records associated with neighbouring Mouza Kot Hathial. In some cases, sale deeds reportedly referred to land located away from the properties being claimed. Authorities are examining these cases and considering legal proceedings over alleged irregularities in land transactions.
CDA Deputy Director General Enforcement Dr. Anum Fatima said action would be taken against unlawful occupation in accordance with the law. Officials also stated that court-related matters would be addressed through the appropriate legal channels.
The authorities have indicated that the land recovery campaign will continue on the basis of verified revenue records and applicable legal procedures. Further action concerning other identified properties will depend on the findings of official reviews and the resolution of relevant legal matters.
