ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued notices to several religious seminaries in Islamabad over alleged violations of building control regulations. The authority has directed the administrations to submit approved construction plans and remove identified violations within 15 days, warning that failure to comply could lead to the sealing of the premises.

According to the notices, some buildings were constructed without approved building plans and contain additional structures on mandatory setbacks and rooftops. The CDA has also raised objections to the use of a property for operating a religious seminary when its approved purpose is residential.

The authority has instructed the relevant administrations to address the reported violations within the given deadline and provide the required construction documents. Possible enforcement measures include sealing the buildings, imposing financial penalties and taking further action under applicable regulations.

The latest notices follow a separate CDA action involving the residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad. In that case, the authority reportedly identified unauthorised structures on mandatory setbacks and directed the property’s administration to remove them within 15 days. The notice also warned of possible sealing or demolition if the instructions were not followed.

The CDA’s actions highlight its ongoing enforcement of building control and land-use regulations in the federal capital. Property owners, institutions and building administrators are required to follow approved construction plans and use properties according to their authorised purposes.

The notices represent regulatory action over alleged violations, not confirmation that the buildings have already been sealed or that the proposed penalties have been imposed. Further action will depend on compliance by the administrations and the authority’s subsequent decisions.
