LAHORE – Pakistan’s cricket team could not make an impact in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made the best possible arrangements for the event. Despite this, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is now facing criticism for ignoring Pakistan during the final presentation ceremony.
The grand closing ceremony took an unexpected turn as fans noticed ICC’s treatment of the host nation. Even after Pakistan’s top efforts in organizing the event, PCB was not given any role on stage. This shocked cricket fans as no PCB officials were seen during the final presentation.

In past ICC events, the host nation always had a key role in the ceremony. But this time, ICC did not include any PCB members on stage. Reports suggest that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was not in the UAE due to health issues. Still, PCB Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the Tournament Director were present. Despite their presence, ICC did not invite COO Salman Naseer to join the ceremony.
Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was also missing from the stage. He led Pakistan to victory in the last ICC Champions Trophy. Yet, it was former Australian captain Aaron Finch who brought the trophy onto the stage instead.
The decision to sideline PCB officials has sparked criticism. Many fans believe politics influenced the event, with accusations pointing towards Indian influence in ICC decisions.
