Changes in Kareem Block Market Underpass Project Purposed by LDA
Lahore: The Allama Iqbal Town-based Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has altered the building plans for the Kareem Block Underpass project, according to reliable sources. The primary reason is to prevent the University of Punjab from acquiring additional land.

New to the design is the building of an extra barrel in the underpass. From Wahdat Road, the underpass will head towards the canal and Bhekewal Mor. In addition, the authority would purchase an additional 3 Kanals of land from the bank at a total cost of Rs 2.70 billion.

There are two options, and one will be chosen. The first possibility involves the construction of an underpass to convert a signal-free route away from the intersection. Here, traffic from Multan Road to Bhekewal Road will be permitted.
In the second alternative, a three-legged flyover will be constructed to direct traffic from Multan Road to Canal Road and Bhekewal Mor.
Mr. Mazhar Hussain Khan, the head of the LDA, submits the final project, Concept-1 (PC-1), for government approval.
