Chinese Company to Invest $2.4 Billion in CPEC Kohala Hydel Project
Islamabad: As part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Chinese Three Gorges Company signed agreements pertaining to the 1124 megawatt Kohala Hydel Power Project (CPEC).

Asim Saleem Bajwa, Chairman of the CPEC Authority, declared to the involved officials that the project would bring in $2.4 billion in foreign investment under the CPEC umbrella.
In the vicinity of Kohala in Azad Kashmir, there is a proposed run-of-the-river, high head project called the Kohala Hydropower Project. The project’s agreement was completed in 2020, and the Pakistani prime minister and the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan were present when it was formally signed.

On January 7, 2015, the state-owned hydropower company China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) was granted permission to build a hydroelectric project in Pakistan.
This will be the biggest investment made by a Chinese corporation in Pakistan.
