Civil Society’s Role Key in Boosting Country’s Tree Cover

Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam emphasized the significance of civil society organizations’ contribution to the government’s pursuit of sustainable management of forests on national and sub-national levels in enhancing the country’s tree cover and climate-resilience.

According to Mr. Aslam, the adoption of TBTTP has already produced a number of success stories.

The afforestation effort aided in boosting Pakistan’s stature and garnering global recognition as a government devoted to combating the negative effects of climate change on human civilization and natural ecosystems.

Mr. Aslam noted that about 12, 500 kids and instructors in Gujranwala planted 52,040 seedlings in 40 seconds, surpassing the Indian record of 37,000 saplings planted in one minute.

Mr. Aslam stated that Pakistan, which ranked among the top 10 most affected and climate-vulnerable nations, required a greening initiative.
