Closing Date Set for Karachi Mega Transport Projects
The Rs 300 billion Karachi Circular Railway and the Rs 25 billion Green Line Bus Rapid Transit are two massive transportation projects in Karachi that would be operational by the end of this year, according to Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar.

The first package (A) of the Integrated Transport System (ITS) contract must be signed by March 26. Package B must be signed by April 2, according to a statement from the ministry.
The prototype buses will be available for testing and commissioning by April 25 according to the minister, who oversaw a meeting of all the stakeholders, including the Ministry of Railways, Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL), and Public-Private Partnership Authority (P3A).
Mr. Umar stipulated that the Green Line BRT must be operational by August 2021 and requested that SIDCL assess all of the actions to meet the deadlines with both a partial and full implementation of ITS.

The minister stated that the federal government was making every effort to advance the BRT project in order to alleviate the hardships Karachiites were now experiencing as a result of the lack of adequate public transportation.
