CM Approves Signal-free Corridor from Center Point to Defense
According to news reports, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved an infrastructure project for a signal-free corridor between Center Point (Gulberg) and Defense. In order to reduce traffic congestion, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will construct a series of underpasses and flyovers as part of the project.

According to sources, the signal-free corridor has been legally approved and will need the implementation of the following road infrastructure projects:
- Construction of a full-height underpass in the vicinity of Cavalry Ground at Khalid Butt Chowk
- A single-direction, three-lane flyover heading to Defense Mor from 9 Ghoda Chowk.
- Construction of a new U-turn at Center Point

According to LDA sources, the project will cost the government PKR 4.10 billion and will be completed under the Annual Development Programme (ADP). After the completion of the project, vehicles traveling to and from the Gulberg, Defence, and Cavalry grounds will have access to a signal-free route, cutting commute times.

The corridor will be signal-free between Gulberg and Defense, including a four-lane Dual Carriageway, a two-way underpass at Khalid Butt Chowk, and a three-lane single-side flyover connecting Cavalry Ground to the Defense Morr at Ghulam Butt Chowk. The project also includes Defense Mode and Walton Road restoration.
