Construction of Mini Hydel Power Stations for Power Shortage
Taj Muhammad Tarand, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s special assistant for energy, stated on Sunday that the current provincial government’s main priority is the construction of small hydro power plants (mini micro hydel stations) in the province’s underdeveloped, power-deprived areas.

An outstanding accomplishment of the PTI provincial government is the intention to construct 356 tiny micro hydel stations in the province, which will provide electricity to thousands of homes.
Six projects totaling 223 MW are now under construction as part of the mid-term plan, and they are expected to be finished in 2024. Meanwhile, nine projects totaling 1899 MW are scheduled to be finished in 2027–2028.

Taj Muhammad, a special assistant for energy, stated that the province’s hydropower resources are a priceless gift that may be used to not only produce affordable electricity but also to help the country overcome its current energy crisis.
Finally, the Special Assistant expressed satisfaction with PEDO’s performance and gave the organisation the go-ahead to create a thorough visitation schedule for self-evaluation of the project sites’ work. He believed that the technical project team at PEDO will help current projects get finished on time.
