Construction of Multi-Storey Buildings Stopped by SHC
Sukkur: Developers of multi-story housing projects have resumed construction despite an injunction issued by the Sukkur bench of the Sindh High Court a few weeks ago.

The court halted construction of multi-story buildings on plots smaller than 400 square yards, those located along narrow lanes and streets, and any project that lacked a substantial parking area for apartment residents. In accordance with the court’s directive, construction on all such lots had ceased.
However, construction activity on 120-square-foot and smaller lots has resumed with vigour over the past week. Several of these six- to twelve-story plots are situated along narrow streets and roads, such as Miyani Road, Nishtar Road, Shamshabad, Dhak Road, Katti Bazaar, and Bandar Road, among others.

The Sukkur Municipal Corporation appears indifferent to the fact that civic life in all of these areas has been severely impacted.
Some builders with whom reporters spoke claimed to have received authorization from the SBCA to resume construction on their respective projects. They did not, however, produce such a document. They argued that these multi-story housing developments were advantageous for those who favoured living within the city as opposed to residential units located on the outskirts.
