List of Under Construction Dams in Pakistan 2023
Prime Minister Imran Khan has declared that his government will construct ten dams soon to combat the country’s impending water problem.

Dams will keep water from reaching the ocean, and the preserved water will be accessible for cultivation, home use, and clean electricity generation.
The prime minister is optimistic that developing the Mohmand and Bhasha dams will significantly alleviate agricultural and drinking water shortages and increase power generation. New dam development would also generate a substantial number of jobs.
Imran Khan deplored that the Bhasha Dam’s construction had been approved in 1984, but work could not begin due to a lack of political will on the side of previous governments. However, there are other disadvantages to dam construction.

The experience of other nations indicates that dams may result in the displacement of people, the destruction of animal and bird habitats, and negative environmental effects. When planning the construction of new dams, the government should consider all of these factors carefully.
