Contractors in Search of Fresh Tenders for Kotal Dam
Karak: If the deputy director of irrigation for the Kohat division does not revoke the bids for the Kotal dam, the provincial and district contractors organizations have threatened to boycott the development works tenders.
They said that the official had rejected certain contractors’ paperwork using a variety of flimsy justifications in order to facilitate the allocation of contracts to his blue-eyed individuals. When they declined to participate in the bidding procedure, they said the deputy director intimidated them; yet, when they insisted, he rejected their paperwork, alleging technical grounds.
Instead of Kohat, they asked that the tenders take place at the irrigation department office in Karak. Furthermore, they urged that the chief minister revoke all recently announced bids.
The focus of the participants was on starting the project to create master plans for 154 urban local governments that are not metropolitan ones and for which it was mandated by law that local governments create master plans for their regions.
Participants emphasized the need for a transparent master plan creation process with ongoing participation from officials assigned to the relevant municipal governments.
