Islamabad: The Federal Minister launched restoration efforts aimed at safeguarding the ancient Shah Allah Ditta Caves in Islamabad. The “Shah Allah Ditta Caves” construction, upkeep, and preservation project began with the foundation stone being laid by Mr. Jamal Shah, Caretaker Minister, National Heritage & Culture (NH&C).
The Shah Allah Ditta Caves site has been formally classified by the Department of Archaeology & Museums (DOAM) Islamabad, the Chief Minister mentioned during the event. The Antiquities Act of 1975 designated it as a “Protected Antiquity.” News reports state that the minister attended the function with a number of other high officials, including the following:
- Humaira Ahmed, the NH&C Federal Secretary
- Dr. Abdul Azeem, the DOAM Islamabad’s Director General (DG)
The NH&C has launched major initiatives for the cave’s development, preservation, protection, and restoration in the current budget year. Both hard and soft landscaping techniques are being integrated into the project. Moreover, the following were included in the scope of work:
- Archaeological dig
- A thorough record of the place
- The execution of drainage operations
- Geotechnical studies pertaining to binding substances
