In a webinar recently held by Facebook, Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan (ISPAK), and Telecom Infra Project, Aamer Ejaz, Chief Digital & Strategy Officer Jazz, discussed his thoughts on enhancing urban connections to enable digital transformation in Pakistan (TIP).

The webinar addressed the current difficulties in achieving connectivity policy objectives, the necessity of constructing a strong fibre broadband network, and the advantages of adopting cutting-edge urban internet connectivity and technology solutions with examples of successful Asian implementations.
Aamer said, “We have a philosophy at Jazz based on the principle of 4 Cs that strives to establish a holistic digital ecosystem for the masses,” when asked about creating a digitally inclusive country.
He went on to examine the difficulties that mobile broadband providers face in providing high-quality services and expanding coverage, pointing out that, occasionally, administrative roadblocks caused protracted delays in obtaining NOCs approved for the installation of telecom infrastructure.
Pakistan was second to last in Asia and in the bottom quartile of the EIU (Economist Intelligence Unit) 2021 Inclusive Internet Index.

This is a worrying situation that requires immediate attention on the digital front. Therefore, corrective measures should be created and put into place quickly so that the general public can profit from a digital transition.
