Bhutto Medical Varsity, FMC to Finally Get Buildings
Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) and Federal Medical College (FMC), the first public medical college in Islamabad, will have their own buildings at G-8/3. In addition, President Dr. Arif Alvi launched the two initiatives.
On a 16-Kanal site in G-8/3, the university’s academic block and the FMC’s teaching block will be constructed. The seven-story structure will also include a basement. The FMC building will be constructed on six kanals and have a covered space of 167,000 square feet.
Dr. Alvi inaugurated the plaque of the Higher Education Commission-funded Rs1.58 billion university building (HEC).
Alongside the academic section of the university, the building of the Federal Medical College will be constructed. The national health services (NHS) ministry has allocated land for this purpose, with the agreement of the SZABMU medical education institution’s board.

The development of the SZABMU academic block is part of the government’s attempts to enhance medical education and research in the country, as stated by Dr. Faisal Sultan.
