ECC Approves Eight Supplementary Grants Worth Rs. 3.9 Billion
Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet continues to approve extra and technical supplementary grants so they may be authorised by the National Assembly alongside the federal budget for 2021-22.
The ECC meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, agreed an indexation scheme for cash transfers to the underprivileged that will enhance their monthly allowance by Rs 166.

The meeting approved the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division’s request regarding the Indexation Policy for Cash Transfer and permitted the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to adopt the institutional mechanism for periodic update of regular cash transfer benefits to Ehsas Kafalat Beneficiaries.
The committee’s responsibility would be to review and suggest to the federal cabinet, within three years of the last increase, an inflation-based adjustment to the regular cash benefits of BISP, i.e. the Ehsaas Kafalat Programme. The committee would also examine and approve any update or modification of cash transfers under BISP Programs other than the Ehsaas Kafalat Program.

The conference also accepted the Ministry of Housing and Works’ supplementary funding request of Rs75 million for capital expenditures on civil works during the current fiscal year for three distinct development plans. Moreover, the Ministry of Housing and Works received a technical additional grant of Rs43 million.
