ECNEC Approves Multiple Infrastructure Projects Worth Billions
Mr. Shaukat Tarin, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, presided over today’s meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) of the Cabinet.
Similarly, the ECNEC reviewed and approved a report sponsored by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa concerning the Peshawar – D.I.Khan Motorway to be constructed by the Paktunkhwa Highway Authority (PHA). The project’s overall cost is Rs. 276,529.496 billion.
The project entails the construction of a 6-lane, 360-kilometer-long dual carriageway from Peshawar to Dera Ismail Khan, passing through the districts of Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat before reaching its destination. The job entails the construction of tunnels, underpasses, etc.
The development of a motorway will boost commerce and tourism, as well as offer employment possibilities during and after the road’s construction. The enhanced road connectivity will increase the local population’s economic opportunities.

As envisioned by the Prime Minister, the ECNEC applauded such initiatives to transform Pakistan into a hub for domestic and international tourism.
Last but not least, the ECNEC authorized the idea for Pak Institution of Engineering & Emerging Technologies (PUEET), a research university that will house several centers of excellence in cutting-edge disciplines of science and technology, as well as a cutting-edge Technology Park.
The overall project cost is 23,54 billion rupees. The project will improve the quality of education, foster collaboration between industry and academics, and train graduates in emerging technologies.
