ECNEC Favors Conversion of PM House to University
After Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement that PM House would be converted into a modern university before the 2018 election, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) authorized the project at a cost of Rs 23,54 billion.

According to officials, the ECNEC authorized the project for Pak Institution of Engineering & Emerging Technologies (PUEET), a research university that will house several centers of excellence in cutting-edge disciplines of science and technology, as well as a cutting-edge Technology Park. The overall project cost is Rs 23.54 billion. The project will improve the quality of education, foster collaboration between industry and academics, and train graduates in emerging technologies.
According to sources, the PC-I of the project was presented after a delay of approximately three years, and a project director was evaluating the megaproject.
During the meeting of ECNEC headed by the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Mr. Shaukat Tarin, projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa totaling over Rs 315.5bn were also authorized.

The Provincial Minister of Finance informed the Committee that the KP Government is developing motorways/expressways to connect tourist spots, which will not only increase the number of tourists, but also increase business/employment opportunities for the local population and contribute to the socioeconomic development of the region.
As envisioned by the Prime Minister, the ECNEC applauded efforts to transform Pakistan into a hub for local and international tourism.
