Facebook and Instagram Are Also Getting a $12 Subscription
A premium verification service for Facebook and Instagram is being launched by Meta. It costs $14.99 per month for mobile apps and $11.99 per month for the web.
Users with a “Meta Verified” account would benefit from a verified badge, increased visibility on the platforms, priority customer service, and other things, according to a statement made by CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Instagram. This week sees the service’s debut in Australia and New Zealand, with ambitions to spread to additional nations shortly after.
The CEO Mark Zukerberg said that this week, we’re launching Meta Verified, a paid subscription service that gives you direct access to customer support, the ability to earn a blue badge, further impersonation security against accounts that pretend to be you, and the ability to verify your account with a government ID. Increasing authenticity and security across all of our services is the goal of this new functionality.

You must be at least 18 years old to meet the minimum activity requirements, and present a government-issued ID with a name and picture that correspond to those on your Facebook or Instagram account in order to sign up for Meta Verified. The business notes that the new option won’t change accounts that have previously been verified through the company’s prior standards, which take into account characteristics like authenticity and notability. Elon Musk’s Twitter Blue, which charges $8 per month, may appear similar to the new function.
Furthermore, users that sign up for the Meta Verified service will also get access to exclusive stickers for Reels and Stories, as well as 100 free stars each month, which is the virtual currency used by Facebook to reward creators.
Companies are currently not eligible for the Meta Verified badge, according to Meta, and changing your profile name, username, birthday, or profile image will necessitate going through the verification process again.
The service will make its debut in Australia and New Zealand this week, priced at $19.99 AUD for the online and $24.99 AUD for mobile, or $23.99 NZD for the web and $29.99 NZD for mobile,. The increased price on iOS and Android is apparently meant to make up for the fee that both Apple and Google charge on in-app purchases.
