FATF Group to Review Pakistan’s Performance on June 23
On June 23, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will examine Pakistan’s implementation of a 27 action plan.
The relevant officials were informed by sources that the four-day FATF meeting would begin on Monday (June 21) in Paris, when the action plan handed to Pakistan will also be discussed.
Sources stated that Pakistan has presented to FATF a comprehensive report on the implementation of 27 items of the action plan, which includes laws to combat money laundering and enforcement actions to combat terrorism financing.

In February of this year, FATF voted to retain Pakistan on its “grey list” and instructed the country to completely implement the remaining three of twenty-seven criteria by June 2021.
Pakistan has implemented fourteen out of twenty-seven points in February 2020, twenty-one out of twenty-seven in October 2020, and all twenty-seven Action Plans in June of this year.
It is important to note that FATF placed Pakistan to the grey list in June 2018 based on the recommendations of the ICRG, after four nations, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, and France, identified significant weaknesses in Pakistan’s financial system.
