The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ordered a special audit of customs warehouses across Pakistan to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of seized goods.

According to sources, the first phase of the audit will focus on warehouses operating under Customs Enforcement Quetta. Facilities in Dalbandin, Lak Pass, Mangi Khwah, Rakhni, and the Customs Enforcement Headquarters are under close review after reports claimed that goods worth millions of rupees were allegedly stolen and sold illegally.

Sources said customs authorities have instructed officials to identify all individuals and groups involved in the theft or unlawful disposal of confiscated items. This includes both direct participants and those who may have facilitated such activities indirectly. Strict action is expected against anyone found responsible.

Officials added that once the initial audit is completed, similar inspections will be conducted at customs warehouses in other cities to check whether comparable irregularities exist elsewhere.

The move comes after an earlier scandal involving the alleged replacement of 400 kilograms of silver, in which eight officials from Customs Enforcement Quetta were suspended.

The silver replacement case has increased pressure on authorities to speed up the audit process, restore trust in the system, and prevent further losses to the national treasury.
