Federal PSDP to Focus on Improving Transport Infrastructure
Islamabad: The government has presented the budget for fiscal year 2020-2021, allocating 900 billion rupees for the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP 2021-22), a 38 percent increase from the 650 billion rupees given in the previous fiscal year.

The entire PSDP expenditure for the upcoming fiscal year is Rs 2.1 trillion, of which Rs 1.235 trillion has been designated for province PSDP and Rs 900 billion has been set aside for federal PSDP.
According to budget records, the 900 billion rupees includes 100 billion rupees for international help.
The document states that the PSDP allocation focuses on improving transport and communication facilities, with a particular emphasis on inter-provincial and regional connectivity, investments in the construction of large dams and water conservation systems, and the enhancement and strengthening of infrastructure in the health sector.
It also focuses on expanding access to higher education, social protection, economic opportunities, and means of subsistence.

According to the annual plan, 469 billion rupees, or 52% of the overall PSDP, have been dedicated to projects aimed at updating infrastructure in order to accelerate growth. For the upcoming fiscal year, 228.7 billion rupees have been allocated for energy sector initiatives.
