Fee Waiver of Land Conversion for Medical College Allowed by LDA
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has amended its land-use regulations for 2020 to exempt charitable organizations from paying the property conversion cost, according to an article published on Monday (December 20).
According to the details, the LDA repeatedly rejected the Water and Power Development Agency’s (WAPDA) proposal before revising the criteria. Authorities have submitted a request for conversion fee exemption along with a trust registration certificate issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). According to reports, the authorities have agreed to change the standards to conform with Financial Action Task Force regulations (FATF).

In 2019, the agency reportedly requested an exemption from the Rs 54 million WAPDA Medical College Trust exchange fee for the first time. The organization was forced to pay an interchange fee, provide adequate parking, and erect a 9-foot home line due to LDA building and zoning regulations. WAPDA subsequently requested a payment in installments, which was approved in November 2019. The agency was then forced to make eight payments totaling 6.8 million rupees to cover the conversion fee.

Phase II of WAPDA City is building a medical college on Abdul Sattar Eddie Road, according to a university information exchange. The agency has awarded 47 canal plots to the institute.
In order to construct New Aligarh University in Lahore, the LDA has also authorized comparable bids from the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center and the Tehzibul Akhlaq Trust.
