First National Ice Sports Festival to Start off in Hunza
Upper Hunza: The first national ice sports event has begun in full force in the village of Ghulkin. Mr. Amjad Wali, president of the Gillgit Baltistan (GB) Winter Sports Association, announced that the festival will continue till January 23.

The event was organized by the Pakistan Winter Sports Association in partnership with the Ghulkin Winter Club. In addition to ice hockey, ice polo, ice football, and ice skating, the festival contains a number of other competitions. There were a total of 21 teams at the festival, five of which were female.

Mr. Altit Scarf and Mr. Chipurson Hunza were on opposing girl’s soccer teams, and the high commissioner served as the match’s referee. Mr. Obaidullah Baig, a senior minister, along with several social and political activists and district administration officials also attended the ceremony. At the celebration, the elders did the traditional dance to music, and national anthems were also performed.
