Funds Allocated for Construction of 49 Mini Dams in Balochistan
According to public media sources, the Balochistan administration has announced plans to construct 49 small dams for irrigation of land in the province at a cost of PKR 6,451 billion.
The development of these mini-dams, according to an authoritative source, would reduce water scarcity while increasing groundwater levels. In addition, the government has raised the budget of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the current fiscal year in an effort to address the province’s water shortage.

In the fiscal year 2021-22, a total of PKR 298 million has been allocated for the development of the Awaran Dam. While PKR 1.492 billion is set aside for the development of the Command Area for rainwater collecting, the remaining funds will be used for other purposes.
In addition, the government has allocated PKR 860.868 million for Phase II of the Mirani Dam Command Area Development and PKR 572.682 million for Phase II dam Command Areas.

In addition, 400 million Pakistani rupees have been allocated for the construction of the Kacchi Canal Command Area. It would permit the cultivation of 29,000 acres of uncultivated land in Dera Bugti and its environs.
