Gilgit-Shandur Expressway Project to be Completed Soon
Asad Umar, the federal minister for planning, development, and special initiatives, stated during a news conference that the Rs 50 billion Gilgit-Shandur Expressway Project will be completed shortly.

He further noted that the PTI Government has earmarked Rs 40.5 billion for project development in Gilgit Baltistan. He promised to enhance the federal allotment for the GB development package up to Rs 50 billion in the fiscal year 2022-24. The current government has been working for the development of Gilgit-Baltistan on a top priority basis.
The minister added that the Gilgit-Shandor Expressway will be built for Rs 50 billion and they would incorporate this project into the CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) (China Pakistan Economic Corridor).
19 large-scale projects had been included inside the Federal PSDP in the integrated development plan for Gilgit-Baltistan, Asad Umar stated.

Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a Rs 370 billion, five-year aid package for the scenic area of Gilgit Baltistan. The prime minister declared that Rs 370 billion will be spent in the region over the next five years, with the promise to increase all feasible assistance for the region’s welfare.
