PESHAWAR: The federal government has allocated Rs. 900 million for the repair and rehabilitation of damaged sections of the Hazara Motorway (E-35) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry informed the Senate about the funding, confirming that remedial work has already started at the affected locations.
Technical assessments have identified approximately six to seven points along the motorway where road depressions and ground settlement have occurred. The allocated funds will be used to address these issues and restore the affected sections. However, the specific locations and total length of the damaged road have not been disclosed.

The Hazara Motorway was completed in 2018, while concerns about structural problems reportedly emerged in 2024. The latest repair initiative follows technical assessments conducted to identify areas requiring attention. Details about the causes of the damage and responsibility for the repair costs have not been provided.
The matter has also been referred to a Senate committee for further consideration. The committee’s review is expected to bring additional attention to the motorway’s condition and the rehabilitation work. However, the available information does not specify the committee’s review schedule or the expected completion date for repairs.
The Hazara Motorway is an important transport route in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, connecting communities and supporting travel, trade and tourism across the region. Repairing the damaged sections could help improve road conditions and provide more reliable access for commuters and commercial transport.

The National Highway Authority (NHA), which manages the motorway, will remain central to the rehabilitation process. Travellers should follow official traffic updates for possible lane restrictions or diversions while work continues. Further details about fund utilisation, repair progress and the Senate committee’s findings will help clarify the project’s overall outcome.
