The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved a broad set of financial decisions spanning sectors such as education, energy, industry, and public administration.

The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division, resulted in the approval of Technical Supplementary Grants (TSGs) totaling around Rs. 3.01 billion for various development and operational needs.

Among the key allocations, Rs. 59.624 million was sanctioned for expenditures related to Independence Day and Marqa-e-Haq 2025 celebrations, following a proposal from the National Heritage and Culture Division.

The committee also approved Rs. 100 million for the construction of the Faiz Ahmad Faiz Complex, aimed at strengthening cultural and educational infrastructure. Additionally, Rs. 350 million was allocated to Danish School Kuri to support operational expenses and sustain academic activities after the start of classes.

In the industrial sector, the ECC endorsed the revival of National Steel Complex Limited by allowing gas supply for industrial use and captive power generation, subject to availability and applicable tariffs. The committee also called for a standardized policy framework for similar approvals going forward.

In the power sector, a key reform was approved to implement uniform Use of System Charges (UoSC) across all electricity distribution companies, including K-Electric, under the Competitive Trading Bilateral Contract Market (CTBCM). This move is intended to create a level playing field in the electricity market.

Separately, the ECC approved a Rs. 2.5 billion grant for the Directorate General Immigration & Passports to cover operational expenses such as salaries, production materials, and outstanding liabilities during FY2025–26.

The meeting was attended by several federal ministers, including Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, and Rana Tanveer Hussain (who joined virtually), along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan and senior officials from relevant ministries.

The ECC stressed the importance of timely implementation and adherence to policy frameworks to ensure effective execution and maintain fiscal discipline.
