Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior has rejected reports claiming that the United Arab Emirates is carrying out targeted deportations of Pakistani nationals, calling the allegations misleading and part of a “vicious propaganda campaign.”

In an official statement issued on Friday, the ministry said it had reviewed available information and found no evidence of any country-specific or sect-based deportation campaign by UAE authorities.

The statement noted that some media outlets and social media platforms had circulated speculative reports regarding the deportation of Pakistanis from the UAE, but clarified that any deportations taking place were linked to routine immigration and legal procedures.

According to the ministry, such actions may involve cases related to visa violations, expired documents, illegal residency, or overstaying under the host country’s laws.

Officials further emphasized that Pakistani citizens who meet visa and employment requirements continue to travel to and work in the UAE and other friendly countries without discrimination.

The ministry also stated that any matters involving Pakistani nationals abroad are addressed individually through diplomatic channels by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The clarification came after recent reports suggested that Pakistani workers were being expelled from the UAE. Earlier, The New York Times published a report alleging a large-scale deportation campaign involving Pakistani workers in the Gulf country.

According to the report, several Pakistani Shia workers claimed they had been detained and deported over the past month, amid concerns of rising tensions linked to the broader conflict in the Middle East.
