The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) has demanded a 200 percent increase in salaries for government employees ahead of the Federal Budget 2026-27, citing the growing financial burden caused by inflation and rising living expenses.
The association has submitted a six-point charter of demands to the government, which also includes a 500 percent increase in house rent, medical, and other allowances. APCA leaders argue that the current salary and benefits structure no longer reflects the economic realities faced by public sector workers.
According to the association, government employees have experienced a significant decline in purchasing power as prices of essential goods and services continue to rise. APCA maintains that many workers are struggling to meet household expenses under existing pay scales.
In addition to salary and allowance increases, the association has urged the government to reconsider plans related to the privatization of public sector institutions. APCA believes such measures could negatively impact job security and employee welfare.
To press for the acceptance of its demands before the federal budget announcement, the association has announced a protest in Islamabad on June 2. Government employees from across the country have been called upon to participate in the demonstration.
Meanwhile, authorities in the federal capital have reportedly begun making security arrangements ahead of the planned protest as large numbers of public sector employees are expected to gather in Islamabad.
