Government Proposed Dividing Lahore into Two Districts
The Punjab administration announced a plan to administratively divide Lahore into two districts, according to news sources. During Prime Minister Imran Khan’s one-day visit to the province, the preliminary proposal was given to him. However, the prime has yet to decide the fate of Lahore’s proposed division.

Lahore would be divided into two districts, Lahore City and Lahore Sadar, according the formula provided to the prime minister. Model Town, Raiwind, Lahore City, Thokar Niaz Baig, and Kahna will comprise the Lahore City District, whereas Ferozewala, Harbanspura, and Shalimar will comprise the Sadar District. Each district will have its own assistant commissioner.

Notably, the plan to divide Lahore into two administrative divisions was presented in December 2021, and DC was tasked with speeding work on Project Concept-2 (PC-2) to study the impact on the city’s population. According to the plan, five new tehsils will be created: Ferozewala, Thokar Niaz Baig, Kahna, Kot Abdul Malik, and Harbanspura.
