Government Pursues $300m IDA Aid for KP Tribal Districts
The federal government is requesting $300 million from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank Group in order to increase access to and the quality of basic services for vulnerable communities in districts recently combined with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Residents in the amalgamated communities have, according to a report by Dawn, heightened expectations for enhanced service delivery, notably in the areas of clean water, food security, education, and health.
The “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Institutional Support” project will focus on three key areas of support: community infrastructure grants to address rural infrastructure gaps; citizen monitoring of basic services delivery in key service sectors against agreed quality standards; and institutional development and community mobilisation to promote local capacity and strengthen the transparency, accountability, and capacity of line departments to partner with local communities.

Moreover, these regions have the least capacity or resources to meet local demands. This will be accomplished through a combination of funding, technical assistance, and institutional strengthening. During project planning, the geographic scope will be defined and may be expanded in phases.
