Government Suggests Projects of RS 1.35 Billion for Minorities

Peshawar: In the yearly development programme for the province’s religious minorities, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has proposed eight new projects totaling Rs. 1.35 billion.

These programmes, according to government representatives, include providing uniforms, books, and scholarships for kids attending missionary schools as well as sanitation and water supply plans for residential communities.

For the upcoming fiscal year, four projects totaling Rs 1 billion have been proposed for settled districts while four projects totaling Rs 350 million have been suggested for tribal areas.

Rs 200 million has been suggested for tribal communities to build community centers, upgrade the sewage and sanitation system, and restore places of worship.

A proposal of Rs 50 million has been proposed to give special awards to instructors of missionary schools, Rs 50 million for the welfare of religious minorities, and Rs 50 million for religious festivals, financial aid for religious leaders and students.

According to the SAPM, discussions about the recently planned projects with minority communities are currently under process. The projects would be referred to the KP chief minister for final clearance after all consultations have been completed.

Wazir Zada met with a group of minorities yesterday to discuss the budget for minorities’ development. Members of the women’s commission and KP Assembly member Ravi Kumar both attended the meeting.
