Government to Offer RS 7.8 Billion Ramazan Relief Package
Islamabad: The Federal Government has sanctioned a Rs. 7.8 billion Ramazan assistance package to offer essential food items at predetermined prices at certain shops across the nation during the holy month, which will begin on April 12.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet gave the kit its approval during a meeting. The conference was overseen by Minister of Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.
As part of an anticipated relief package estimated to cost Rs. 7.8 billion, the Utility Stores Cooperation (USC) will provide subsidies for 19 necessities throughout Ramadan.
The proposal to provide 70,000 metric tonnes of wheat flour at lower rates of Rs 30 to Rs 50 per kg was authorized by the ECC. The price of the 50,000 metric tonnes of sugar will be Rs 40 per kg less than market rates, and the price of the 30,000 metric tonnes of ghee will be Rs 43 less than market prices.
Additionally, Rs 9.7 million were allowed for the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation to pay M/s Coniston’s debts to the Pakistan Steel Mills.

To settle the debt owed by the South African company, the government had budgeted Rs 149 million; however, as part of the austerity drive, the finance ministry had reduced this amount by Rs 9.7 million. The Cabinet Division’s request for Rs 67.4 million in funding for the upkeep of high-security vehicles was also accepted by the ECC.
