Govt Approves Over 160 Road Projects in Upcoming Budget
On Friday, the new fiscal budget is scheduled to be released, which appropriately justifies requests for numerous development projects.
The National Economic Council (NEC) has received a report from the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives regarding funding for various road projects in the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2023–24), according to an official document made available to Al Sadat Marketing.
Over 160 new and continuing road projects have a budget that has been proposed by the department. The following information is included in the document:

- The total approved cost of approximately Rs. 2,881 billion for all National Highway Authority (NHA) projects.
- The total foreign aid for these projects is approximately Rs. 459 billion.
- The amount proposed for allocation in FY 2023-24 is approximately Rs. 161 billion.
- The foreign aid proposed for allocation in FY 2023-24 is approximately Rs. 13 billion.
Construction, renovation, and feasibility studies for numerous projects are all part of the road projects. Here are a few of the most significant projects out of more than 160:
- Dualization of the 28.4-kilometer Rawalpindi-Kahuta Road, which will include land acquisition, a 4-lane bridge across the Sihala Railway Pass, the Sihala Bypass, and the Kahuta Bypass
- the building of the four-lane Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (LSM) Link from Narang Mandi to Narowal (101.41 km).
- Western Bypass of Quetta (23 km)
- Building a 6-Lane Highway (Lahore Eastern Bypass) across the Ravi River from Kala Shah Kaku to Lahore Ring Road (18.3 km)
- The 184 kilometer M-4 highway from Faisalabad to Khanewal is being built.
- Infrastructure development and related work for Metro Bus Services New International Airport in Peshawar (25.6 km)
- The Karachi-Lahore Motorway Purchasing Land in Lahore-Abdul Hakeem
- Multan-Sukkur
- Sukkur-Hyderabad
- Section of the Karachi–Lahore Motorway known as the Lahore–Multan Motorway (M-3).
- Land purchase and relocation for the 120.12 km Islamabad-Raikot Section (Phase-I) of the China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC).
- Sukkur-Multan Section of the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway (PKM) Project (392 km)
- Repair of the National Highways Network, which was harmed by unheard-of monsoon rains and flash floods
- Building of the 123.62-kilometer-long Lower Topa Murree to Chak Pandori through Kotli Sattian Tourist Highway in the district of Rawalpindi.
Some of these initiatives have been running for ten years or longer. As a result, these initiatives have become increasingly expensive over time. It remains to be seen if any of them will wrap up on schedule or not.
