Bifurcate Malakand Division to Make Better Management
Wednesday, December 29, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mehmood Khan denied the division of Malakand in order to manage resources better. The minister stated that the headquarters of the new divisions would be established after consulting with Chitral and Dir residents.

According to the sources, the minister met with a delegation of the division’s political leaders and assured them of help and dialogue over the issue. The minister informed the delegates about the ongoing development initiatives in Upper and Lower Chitral districts, which include
- The Atak irrigation channel for Upper Chitral – which will be included in the upcoming Public Sector Development Program – will be constructed in the coming years (PSDP).
- Establishment of Chitral University released with funding
- Top and bottom Chitral Hospitalization of district headquarters
- Upper Chitral district headquarters in Booni initiatives for clean drinking water, improved sanitation, and other municipal infrastructure in newly-constructed Upper and Lower Chitral regularization of settlement employees in projects Dir Motorway construction under public-private partnership and Dir-Chitral Road development

In addition to issuing instructions to remedy the situation, CM Mehmood stated that he would visit both districts and speak with the locals to learn about their difficulties and concerns.
