Green Line BRT: First Shipment Reaches Karachi Port
According to news sources, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has stated that a major milestone has been reached with the arrival of 40 buses for the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Karachi. According to the information provided, the dedicated route will service the city’s most populous neighborhoods. The Green Line BRT will initially extend from Surjani Town to Gurumandir and Numaish Chowk.

CEO of Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) Nadeem Lodhi disclosed that the Green Line BRT buses use eco-friendly low-entry 18-meter Articulated Diesel-Hybrid self-charging technology. Each bus is outfitted with a Modern Intelligent Transport System (ITS) that includes features such as real-time passenger information, automatic doors, surveillance cameras, and an autonomous positioning system.
The governor announced that the second shipment of forty buses is scheduled to arrive in the city the following month. It was emphasized that the initial phase of the project will be operational by November’s end of this year.

The governor praised Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited’s (SIDCL) efforts to ensure that the project will be finished on time. According to the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar, the Green Line BRT is a technologically advanced transportation system that includes a 22-kilometer corridor and will increase the mobility of 135,000 passengers daily.
In addition, the minister reported that commercial operations of the buses will commence within the next two months, following driver training and software installation. The stations and rails have been constructed. He continued by stating that it is the first initiative under the Karachi Transformation Plan, with five others in the works.
