Gujrat’s Direct Link with Sambrial-Kharian Motorway Approved
The federal government has agreed to connect the industrial city of Gujrat to the Sambrial-Kharian motorway, which is an expansion of the Sialkot-Lahore expressway (M-11).

According to sources, PML-Q leader and federal minister for water resources Chaudhry Moonis Elahi discussed the issue at a meeting attended by the prime minister. According to official sources, the prime minister quickly approved the connection road and instructed federal minister of communications Murad Saeed to initiate action.
As a result, Moonis Elahi contacted Murad Saeed, and it was decided to model the Gujrat connection after the Faisalabad dual carriageway in the form of a gated dual carriageway. The Gujrat link to the highway will most likely be constructed near the Kathala Chenab point on GT Road, according to a high-ranking official in the local government.

According to the local business community, the direct connecting road from Gujrat could make the approach to Sialkot airport easier for travelers going via the Lahore-Sialkot-Kharian highway, which will be extended to Rawalpindi/Islamabad through Jhelum and Mirpur (Azad Jammu and Kashmir).
