Temenos has announced that Habib Bank Limited (HBL) has successfully gone live with Temenos Core Banking as part of one of the region’s largest banking modernization initiatives.
The initial rollout supports both conventional and Islamic banking operations and includes the first-phase migration of customer accounts from 200 branches in Pakistan to the new Temenos platform. The milestone marks a major step in HBL’s broader strategy to improve agility, scalability, and operational resilience.
Once fully implemented, the program will extend across HBL’s branch network and more than 40 million customer accounts, with the capability to process nearly 20 million transactions daily.
The implementation was delivered by Systems Limited using the Country Model Bank accelerator. The project integrates Temenos Core and Temenos Data Hub within a hybrid cloud environment powered by Red Hat OpenShift.
According to the companies, the new platform is designed to speed up product launches, improve transaction processing efficiency, and provide real-time analytics and regulatory reporting capabilities.
Muhammad Nassir Salim described the deployment as a major milestone in HBL’s technology transformation journey, saying the new system would support innovation, product agility, and scalable operational efficiency.
William Moroney said the migration from legacy systems to Temenos’ cloud-native core platform would provide HBL with a highly scalable and secure infrastructure capable of supporting complex banking operations and millions of customers.
Ammara Masood said the successful rollout demonstrated the ability to deliver large-scale banking modernization projects while supporting HBL’s long-term growth objectives.
