House Owners to Inform Police Before Renting in Islamabad
On January 4, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad instructed property owners and dealers to notify their local police station before renting out their homes.

Mr. Hamza Shafqat, Deputy Commissioner, stated that Section 144 had been imposed against blind brokers and owners; under this section, they are not permitted to rent property without reporting tenant information to the local police station. The precise resident information will aid the authorities in locating criminal suspects who attempt to hide in rental properties.

This rental policy was implemented by CDA in 2009. Under section 144, tenants are expected to supply the following information:
- Name of the lessee
- Father’s moniker
- Identification number
- Occupation
- Quantity of family members
After verifying this information, residents are free to move into their desired residences.
