According to news reports, Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Adam M. Tugio remarked that Indonesia and Pakistan have huge untapped economic and commercial potential in Sialkot.

The ambassador addressed the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s local manufacturers and exporters (SCCI). The completion of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, according to him, will strengthen Pakistan’s geostrategic prominence in the region.
In addition, Mr. Tugio highlighted that trade between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Pakistan is comparatively low compared to China, meaning that manufacturers and merchants should anticipate more bilateral trade opportunities. During the event, the ambassador also stressed the cultural similarities between the two countries, particularly religion. In addition to SCCI members, regional manufacturers and dealers attended the meeting.

The gathering was also addressed by SCCI president Qaiser Iqbal Baryar, who claimed that the value of trade between Pakistan and Indonesia in 2018-2019 was USD 2.5 billion, illustrating the extent to which the two nations have the ability to increase trade.
