Intertidal Zones Declared as Protected Forests by Sindh
On the direction of the Sindh High Court (SHC), the intertidal zone of Thatta and Sujawal districts has been designated as protected forests by the Sindh forest department in accordance with Section 29 of the Forest Act of 1927.

According to news sources, the Sindh Forest Department has designated approximately 750,000 acres as two separate sanctuaries. Section 1 is comprised of Mirpur Sakro and Gharo, Ghaggar Phatak, Deh Pipri, the Port Qasim region, and the west limit of Ibrahim Hydri. Section 2 begins at the Sir Creek border and encompasses lands in front of Jati taluka and territories surrounding Shah Bandar before concluding at Kharo Chann.

The declaration also designates as protected areas the Korangi and Phitti stream systems, as well as the Bundal and Buddo islands. This will aid in preventing any unlawful activity or forest-clearing efforts of note.
