Iran Allows Kinnow Import from Pakistan
Karachi: Iran has finally removed its nine-year ban on importing Pakistani kinnow.
Tuesday at the presidential palace, Qureshi met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. In order to examine measures to improve economic and commercial ties between Pakistan and Iran, he also met with Pakistani diplomats in Tehran.

According to Ahmed, Iran was the second-largest market for Pakistani kinnow behind Russia. He added that a tonne of citrus fruit was worth about $500.
Ahmed noted that Russia was a far-off country, making trading with it logistically difficult, whereas Iran shared borders with it, making Iran the top market once more. He did, however, admit that smuggling was a problem in trading with Iran.

According to projections, kinnow exports would reach 400,000 tonnes in the 2021–22 season. Jawad advised Pakistani exporters to take advantage of this opportunity by providing products that are packed and presented in accordance with international standards, which the nation lacked in the past.
Similar to this, Pakistan’s Directorate of Plant Protection (DPP) must exercise caution before granting phytosanitary certificates to exporters because, prior to the embargo, Iran had expressed its concerns to Pakistan.
