Iran Halts Peace Negotiations Following US and Israeli Strikes in Lebanon

Iran has suspended indirect diplomatic contacts with the United States following renewed American and Israeli military strikes in parts of Lebanon, according to reports from regional state media.

Tehran has reportedly tied any future engagement with Washington to an end to military operations in both Lebanon and Gaza, as well as the withdrawal of forces from disputed areas in southern Lebanon.

Iran is also said to be considering additional measures involving the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, two critical maritime routes that handle a significant portion of global energy shipments and international trade.

The latest developments come after the United States and Israel resumed military operations in parts of Lebanon despite ongoing efforts to maintain a fragile ceasefire in the region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that any ceasefire arrangement must address all aspects of the broader regional conflict rather than focusing on individual fronts.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important waterways, with any disruption or additional restrictions on shipping expected to have implications for global oil markets and international trade flows.

The White House has not yet issued a public response to the reports regarding Iran’s decision to suspend indirect communications or its reported plans concerning key shipping corridors.
