Islamabad Cadastral Map Unveiled to Curb Land Record Tampering
According to news reports, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has launched a computerized cadastral map of Islamabad.
The Survey of Pakistan has finalized the Islamabad Cadastral Mapping Project to reduce land transfer and ownership record tampering. The same maps will be completed for Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad by November 2021, and for the remainder of the country by the middle of 2022.

During the inaugural ceremony, the prime minister stated that the project would aid in verifying property ownership in order to prevent the likelihood of forced occupation and encroachment on state land.
According to a government-run Twitter account, the cadastral provides:
- Simple access to property rights
- Tenure Specifics
- Lesser land litigation cases
- Land Conflict Settlement
- The enhanced Taxation collection system
- Lessening of Corruption and Land Grabbing

Even if billions of dollars are at stake, the prime minister declared that the governmental apparatus is not up to the task of liberating public land from unlawful occupation and encroachment. He stated that the NADRA has devised a system to assist individuals in learning more about a certain project.
