Islamabad Master Plan Revision Body to Get Three New Members
Islamabad: The federal government has agreed to appoint three additional individuals to the panel tasked with updating the master plan for Islamabad.

According to sources, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has produced a summary that will be presented to the federal cabinet through the Ministry of Interior and propose three new candidates for the commission.
The master plan for Islamabad, created in 1960 by a Greek company, was meant to be updated every 20 years, but succeeding administrations have never given it any consideration.

However, the government decided to update the master plan in December 2018 and established a panel of experts. The commission’s membership underwent various changes before it produced an interim report that was accepted by the federal cabinet in October 2019.
Without consulting with experts, successive administrations made over 40 carefully chosen revisions to the master plan, which led to planning concerns.
The board member stated that the commission will address all civic and planning concerns pertaining to the nation’s capital, as well as the subject of housing developments.
